Turn Your Questions to the Gospel

I really like the last one.

I often like to pray for people I meet; how can I pray for you?

Cal Beisner on caring for creation

How concerned should Christians be about caring for the environment? It depends on the Christian and his or her gifts; it’s not something we can generalize about. But we can state some principles, as I did in a monograph for the Institute on Religion and Democracy, What Is the Most Important Environmental Task Facing American Christians Today?

Why do we always call someone who cares about the environment a tree hugger, when that could be a gift given to them by God?

Why so much exaggeration

I can understand why a politician exaggerates. But why do Christians feel like they need to, to tell a better story of God’s redemption?

Justin Taylor on Limited Atonement

Articulates it so well

In effect, Piper argues that Calvinists essentially affirm the biblical truth that Arminians insist upon. But the Calvinist affirms something some more—something biblical that Arminians deny.

GetReligion.org on Manute Bol

My boss when I was a missionary in Sudan for a couple years said he knew Manute and that he was a great guy.

Bol was much more than a basketball player and he was not a generic humanitarian. His acts were shaped by the conflicts and complexities of his homeland. To understand the size of his heart, readers need to know the remarkable nature of the forgiveness that he preached.

The Case Against Marriage

Interesting/Sad piece by Al Mohler on a Newsweek article.

The Newsweek article represents what may be the most direct journalistic attack on marriage in our times. Though only an op-ed column, it presents arguments that had to date been made largely, if not exclusively, outside of mainstream circles. Consider this column an opening salvo in a battle to finish marriage off, once and for all.

Begin With A Question

I have always wondered where we get all our plans and ideas for church planting?  You don’t really see it in the Bible.  Paul doesn’t tell us to gather a core group, then go to small groups, and then have a launch service.  Steve Addison asks a good question when it comes to church planting.

So I’d ask this question,

In Acts, what were the obstacles to making disciples and planting churches, and how were they overcome?
